The Gift of Jesus
Today, December 25, we celebrate the birth of Christ and the gift that is Jesus.
My hope and prayer is that all of us reading these words this moment are able to recenter ourselves in Jesus and reflect anew on the gift of his birth as we prepare for his return.
Today, and all throughout this week, meditate on the words of John 1:14 as you marvel in God’s plan come to fruition:
“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”—John 1:14
Meditate also on the return Jesus promised would happen one day:
“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick in prison and go to visit you?’ The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’”—Matthew 25:21-40
I offer a prayer for all of us today. I invite you to join me.
Father God, thank you for the opportunity to draw closer during this season. Help me continue to prepare my soul for your Kingdom as I strive to walk in the ways of Jesus now and always. I love you. Amen.
God bless you, my friends. Wherever you are right now, whatever hardship you are experiencing, whether you are alone or gathered with many, know that God sees you, and you are valuable and precious to him. And please know that I consider myself to be your sister in the Lord. We are family.
Merry Christmas!
