Would someone be able to tell you’re a follower of Christ by the way you behave and treat other people?
I hope so. But the truth is we’re sometimes less than kind, patient and compassionate to the people in our inner circle. Certain family members or friends can bring out the worst in us. We snipe, squabble and toss sarcastic barbs like confetti. Drama escalates.
But Jesus tells us the world will know we belong to Him by the way we love each other (John 13:35). The apostle Paul reminds us, “We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us” (2 Corinthians 5:20 NIV).
As we gather this week with family and friends, I thought it might be helpful to reflect on how we can represent Jesus by loving each other well. Perhaps someone else might come to know Jesus because of how we behave this season.
